This tutorial walks you through enrolling an iPhone with McKim & Creed via the Intune Company Portal app. Once enrolled, you can install company-published apps like the McKim & Creed Field Log directly to your device.
Prerequisites
- An iPhone running a current version of iOS
- Your McKim & Creed work account (the same one you use for email and Teams)
- The Microsoft Authenticator app set up for your account
- Your iPhone passcode
Step 1: Install the Intune Company Portal
Open the App Store and search for Company Portal. The correct result is Intune Company Portal by Microsoft Corporation — tap Get (or the cloud icon if you've installed it before) to install it.
Step 2: Sign in with your McKim & Creed account
After installation finishes, open the Company Portal app and sign in using your normal McKim & Creed credentials — the same login you use for email or Teams. If your account uses the Microsoft Authenticator app, approve the sign-in request and pick your McKim & Creed, Inc. account when prompted.
Step 3: Review the privacy information
Once you're signed in, the Company Portal walks through what IT can and can't see or do on the device. Read it so you know what you're agreeing to — notably, IT can wipe the device if it's lost but won't otherwise. Tap Continue when you're done.
Step 4: Download the management profile
Tap Continue to download the management profile. This profile tells iOS to trust McKim & Creed as a device manager and is what lets the Company Portal install company apps. When prompted to allow the download, tap Allow.
When iOS confirms with Profile Downloaded, tap Close — the profile is sitting in Settings, waiting to be installed.
Step 5: Install the profile in Settings
iOS doesn't install management profiles automatically — you have to install it from the Settings app yourself. The Company Portal shows on-screen instructions for exactly this step.
- Open the Settings app. You'll see a Profile Downloaded banner near the top of the page — tap it.
> If you don't see the banner, go to General → VPN & Device Management instead and tap the Management Profile under Downloaded Profile.
- Tap Install in the top-right corner.
- Enter your iPhone passcode when prompted.
- Tap Install again to confirm.
> Note: You'll see a warning mentioning Intune and McKim and Creed. This is expected — it's the certificate that lets your device trust the company. Tap Install to accept.
When you see the green checkmark, the profile is installed.
Step 6: Choose your device category
Return to the Company Portal app. You'll be asked to pick the category that best describes how you'll use this device. Select the option that matches your role — for example, Corporate if you're in corporate, or Geomatics if you're in the Geomatics group — then tap Continue.
The Company Portal will then run a compliance check to make sure the device is secure. When that finishes, enrollment is complete.
Step 7: Install company apps
With your device enrolled, you can now install McKim & Creed apps from the Company Portal. The McKim & Creed Field Log is set as a featured app, so it shows up right on the home screen of the Company Portal.
To browse the full catalog, tap View all. Right now the list is short, but more apps may be published over time.
Tap the app you want, then tap Install on the app's detail page. When the App Installation confirmation appears, tap Install again.
> Tip: App installation can take a few minutes. The Company Portal shows Pending until it's truly finished. Even if you see the app icon on your home screen, it may not be fully installed yet — wait until the Company Portal stops saying Pending before trying to sign in or use it.
Done
Your iPhone is now enrolled in McKim & Creed's device management, and you can install company-published apps anytime from the Company Portal.
